Elder Andrew Stewart Guy, Sr. was born to Mr. and Mrs. Duke and Luvinia Guy, February 20, 1917 in Sulphur Springs, Texas.

He professed a hope in Christ at an early age. Later he moved to Dallas, Texas and united in holy matrimony with Mrs. Kathryn Riley. To this union nine children were born.

He united with the Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Elder C.C. Cox where he served as assistant pastor until the death of the late Rev. C.C. Cox. He later founded the Way of the Cross Mission where he served until his death.

Elder Guy went to eternal rest, February 3, 1973. The church has continued to progress until this date. We are grateful for the leadership of our founder and his vision to complete the work that God called him to do.

Mother Kathryn I. Guy was born August 24, 1918 in Dallas Texas to the parentage of George and Jessie Riley.  Kathryn received her early childhood education at NW Harlee School and Booker T. Washington High School. She was married to Andrew S. Guy on August 29, 1935. There were nine children born to this union. Kathryn’s Christian life began under the pastorate of the late Rev. C. C. Cox at Baker’s Chapel Church of God in Christ. She later united with and became the Mother of the church at The Way of the Cross Bible Church where she faithfully served in capacity as Sunday School Teacher, Missionary and Mother of the church until God saw fit to call her home on January 5, 1994. Both Kathryn and Andrew are in Heaven now, but it will always be remembered that they gave their all for “The Way of the Cross Church”.  They are the beginning branches.
